How to Link or Retrieve your National Identity Number (NIN) for Airtel, MTN, Glo, Etisalat Number

First of all, What is NIN? NIN is an abbreviation for “National Identity Number” and it was a name from an organization body, NIMC (National Identity Management Commission) Nigeria. NIN is a unique number serving as an ID to differentiate users in NIMC database. NIN number is written on the National Identity Card, you can find it there.

Today, The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) made a mandatory that every citizen in Nigeria using any of the Network Service Providers like MTN, Glo, Etisalat or Airtel will link his/her NIN to avoid sim block.

In the process, all of the Network providers made it so easy for their customers to link there NIN on the network. One NIN can be linked on number(s) you have, despite in many Network.

How to Link/Retrieve your NIN on Airtel Number

Airtel Subscribers can retrieve or link there NIN on Airtel with the following procedures. If you don’t know your NIN, you have to retrieve it first, and below is how to retrieve it on Airtel

Retrieving NIN on Airtel

  • Dial *346# on your phone. Enter ‘1’ to choose NIN Retrieval Option (if the phone number you are dialling from was used during your NIN registration)

Linking NIN on Airtel

OR

  • dial *121*1# on your Airtel line to submit your NIN
    • Type 1 for “NIN Capture” and send.
    • Enter your 11-digit NIN and send.
    • Wait for the message confirming your submission.
    • If you get an error, just wait for some time and try again.

How to Link/Retrieve your NIN on MTN Number

Mtn users can link their NIN to their line in any of these three ways. If you don’t have or know your NIN, you have to retrieve it first.

Retrieving NIN number on MTN

  • Dial Dial *346# on your phone. Enter ‘1’ to choose NIN Retrieval Option (if the phone number you are dialling from was used during your NIN registration)

Linking NIN on MTN

OR

  • Via USSD code: Dial *785#

OR

  • Complete the NIN linking form by entering your name, phone number, NIN, and email address.
  • Submit the form as soon as you’re done.
  • Wait for feedback from the network.

How to Link/Retrieve your NIN on Glo Number

To link NIN to your Glo line, you can either;

  • Visit the online registration portal via www.gloworld.com/ng/nin to fill your information and link. Or
  • Dial *109*yourNIN# (e.g *109*90123456789#) and follow the prompts to submit your details Or
  • By SMS – Simply text your 11-digits NIN number to 109 (e.g 90123456789 to 109) and wait for reply.

To Retrieve NIN on Glo Number, you can also do same procedure by;

  • Dial *346# on your phone. Enter ‘1’ to choose NIN Retrieval Option (if the phone number you are dialling from was used during your NIN registration)

How to Link/Retrieve your NIN on 9Mobile (Etisalat) Number

To link NIN to your 9mobile line, simply;

  • Dial the USSD code *200*8# and follow the prompts to submit your details;

OR

  • Visit 9mobile.com.ng/nin to submit online
    • Click on ‘Verify and Link your NIN now’
    • Fill the required information and submit

To Retrieve your NIN on 9Mobile, you can also do same procedure by;

  • Dialing *346# on your phone. Enter ‘1’ to choose NIN Retrieval Option (if the phone number you are dialling from was used during your NIN registration)
